Silk Road Rugs started in 1993, with its factory at Boudha, Kathmandu. This was and still is a predominantly Buddhist settlement, and was considered the hub of the carpet industries.
Since its inception, Silk Road Rugs has been committed to creating and designing the highest quality and standards of carpets. We steadfastly and meticulously ensure that all our carpets are manufactured to the highest levels of quality with no compromise on raw materials.
Our main objective is to offer unique products at the best quality and which are competitively priced for the market. We design our carpets by using sustainable raw materials that are durable and preserve their appearance for a lifetime. We use pure Tibetan sheep wool (which may be hand or machine carded, but always hand-spun), New Zealand wool, Chinese and Indian pure silk, nettle, hemp, bamboo and banana silk. We add silk to enhance the lustre of the carpets.
Silk Road Rugs' endeavours to produce high quality Tibetan and Nepali hand knotted carpets. The variations include, but are not limited to; traditional, contemporary, custom-made designs and so forth. We strive for impeccable weaving which have made Nepali Tibetan carpets the envy of the world. We can produce both for bulk production and exclusive custom orders.
We also make sure that all our carpet manufacturing processes use a sustainable source of materials and a responsible treatment of all weavers and other employees.
Our manufacturing centre is GOODWEAVE certified!
